Vince is an environmental engineer. He is originally from another state, and since most of his family is not here in Charlottesville, C4K has been a nice way to connect with the community. He also finds that leaving work for an hour to meet with his student transforms his day. Vince says, “It's just great to come here. It is very rewarding.” He really enjoys mentoring, and it shows. In describing the first time him and his student met, Vince says, “he was really excited about having a mentor and it made me feel really good. He was very, very versed on computers. So it was a real nice session. And it got better as we went along.”
Samuel created a video of himself and his friends playing soccer using Moviemaker. He also created a website reflecting his personal interests, and brought in pictures to scan and download onto the site. It was extremely rewarding for Vince to see Samuel complete the requirements to graduate from C4K, and now Vince is mentoring his second student. His dedication and willingness to go the extra mile is evident as he continues to learn new software and seek feedback from C4K staff so that he can provide his students with the best mentoring experience possible.
